Chapter Two: Getting Started
The second chapter of Scaling Innovation is on onlynewmistakes.com, but this post will summarize the chapter.

The chapter opens with an exploration of our early team charter and goals. First, we wanted to understand and communicate what work would be impactful. Additionally, we created terminology around “exits,” the successful completion of a Disruptive Innovation team that moved from the Incubator into another more established area of the business to continue growing. Later, we established additional impact measures like “learnings” and experimentation velocity.
Beyond measures and the team charter, we required executive sponsorship for the program, executive buy-in on individual Disruptive Innovation teams, and a cross-functionally aligned team. This cross-functional team included Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, Sales, Program, & Legal.
Hiring the team also required adjusting some expectations and hiring for the right skillsets. We looked especially for flexibility, initiative, and jack-of-all-trades skillsets.
